Topic: heat tubes to heater box?

The recent purchase of a '78 beetle has produced a problem. I found the heater box was not connecter to the heater hose (the one that transfers heat into the car).  It seems the heater hose doesn't want to easily make the 45 degree bend it attach it to the heater box. A supplier told me he knows what I need, but they don't carry that part. Is anyone familiar with that little elbow piece that I think I need?

Do you have a picture? I assume you are speaking of the large plastic pipe that goes from the heater box to the duct that goes into the car. If your car is a 78, then I'm assuming it's fuel injected, and you need the elbow that attaches to the heater box, correct?
