Topic: standard-super questions

I might be buying a what is suppose to be a 1974 bug.The main problem I have is the guy says its a super beetle but it doesnt have the front struts. Its a plain beetle front end.He seems to think they might have swapped bodies.Would that be possible without a ton of mods? I wanna know if I am able to swap on older 60's plain beetle fenders onto this one now that it is on a standard chassis? Its not close to my house so I cant run out and check more info. The chassis though is mint and they custom did the fenders to have square healights(all steel work) and custom sunken in taillights. I love bugs but dont like the fat fenders of these years.

Re: standard-super questions

Welcome
All supers had front strut suspension. And yes that would require a lot of work to swap super to standard body. A lot of people have no idea if super or standard wink

Re: standard-super questions

Get the VIN if you can; that will help with identifying what it is exactly.

For a '74, the biggest giveaway is the windshield - fairly flat like a standard Beetle, or a big curve to it?  No struts and a flat windshield mean it's not a Super Beetle.  Spare tire lays flat (Super) or mostly vertical (standard).

'60s (or any year standard Beetle front fenders, for that matter) will not bolt onto a Super Beetle body.
