Topic: Convertible Reinforcement Rail Install

Hey everybody.

I have a '68 convertible, thats been badly patched over the years. the old reinforcement rails had been removed, and some poor homemade version installed to the pan. My question is, can I pull the bolts out that hold the body and pan together, and slide in a reinforcement rails mounting tab, without removing the body from the chassis?

Thanks

Re: Convertible Reinforcement Rail Install

Hi, I believe the answer is yes, I have welded rails onto my 65' vert, but they were'nt the ones with the "tab" full of bolt holes on them. Now I'm not sure if additional welding is required, I sure would try to reinforce it with welds onto the heater channels. Hope this helps! ~~ Todd VW
