The gas, brake, and clutch pedals are an assembly that unbolts.  So unbolt the whole thing...then disassemble as necessary to install the new gas pedal parts.

Re: 73 super beetle gas pedal help

hi thanks for reply .. the only part i need to replace is the hinge or the pin that holds the pedal to the floor..the kit has a pin c-clip and a spring some type of roller in it.. mine rusted off an i have no idea how it goes back on.. thanks again

Re: 73 super beetle gas pedal help

Hi..are you speaking of the curved piece which welds to the floor? It houses a long pin which holds the bottom of the accelerator pedal, there is also a spring which slides onto this pin, it eases the pedal back to the pedal assembly... hope this helps! Todd

You're initial post was a bit confusing...you said..."i bought a new pedal assembly but i have no idea how it goes on..."

This sounds like the pedal assembly was the problem...but as you mentioned in your 2nd post...it's just the accelerator pedal hinge/pin that confusing.

To remove the accelerator pedal...you move the accelerator pedal return spring out of the way...then you slide out the accelerator pedal pivot pin.  Pretty easy. smile

Good luck,

p.s.  The hardest part of this repair (IMHO)...is getting your head/eyes close enough to the accelerator pedal to see what you're doing! wink
