Topic: Stripped bolt hole on rear brake drum

Is there an insert available for this poblem other than a new drum. Or, do I need to replace the drum? Thanks, Ken.

I would just get a new drum, but you can try a Timesert.

I'm with Burrhead...I would just get a new drum.  There's a lot of torque on those wheel lug bolts & you certainly don't want a lug bolt flying off at 65mph.

You didn't mention what model & year VW you have...but here's a link for a 68-79 Beetle rear drum to give you an idea of replacement cost (about $50 bucks):

Good luck,
