Topic: rpm at idle too low...

Everytime it idles the rpm is low at 500 to 700 rpm. According to specification it should be 800 to 950 rpm. I tried to adjust it by the big brass screw but everytime i do that it stays the same and if too far out it jumps to 1200 rpm thus the vaccum leak through the big brass because it's too far out. I read the sticky about 34-3 pict carb and figure maybe the pilot jet so i tried a little bit of turn but no dice... Keifernet adjusted it and sent it to me about two months ago so i am confused. I am running with SVDA dizzy.
To add that i spray starter fluid to find the vaccum leak but i found nothing...

Re: rpm at idle too low...

Vacuum leaks usually tend to idle high. Try taking the carb apart and cleaning the main and pilot jets, and all the passages. Also, where is the "small" brass screw set at?

Re: rpm at idle too low...

The brass screw should be at 2.5 turns. Idk I havent really play with it.

I found that left side of the heat riser is so hot and and the right side is not hot to touch. I will clean that up and see what happens.

Re: rpm at idle too low...

The left side is usually hotter since that is the feeding side on yours, but if you can touch the right side, the passage is probably blocked with carbon in one of the tubes. Messy job, but not too hard once you get the intake off the engine.

ok i did clean it and it seems to be fine. I blew in the hole and i can feel it coming out of other hole. Also i painted it black smile

Re: rpm at idle too low...

I installed it today and it runs better and also i was messing with fuel pump a little bit and it had like 8 gaskets under it... I decided to take out four of them and it works better now but the big brass screw is almost all the way out. The rpm is now at 800 to 850. Better than before. I will check the fuel pressure this monday to see what pressure it has.
