Topic: Engine Compartment Seal Install Trick

I found an great way to install an engine compartment seal (the seal that attaches to the body in a channel) that I thought I’d pass along. Once the old seal is out and the area is cleaned, get a screen door installation tool (looks kind of like a small dull plastic pizza cutter), install the seal on the lower channel, and then use the tool to roll the seal into the upper channel. Removing the old seal was far more difficult than installing the new one; this method only took me 10 minutes and I managed not to damage any part of the seal. Those more experienced (and smarter) than me may already know this trick, but I thought I’d share anyway. smile

Maybe a sharp pizza cutter will work for removing the old seal!

That sounds like a great tip - I'm going to have to remember it next time I'm doing a seal.

What, no cookies? bummer!
Good tip. It is usually harder to get the old one out.

I use the same method, but with a flat screwdriver. Your idea is better!
