Topic: Engine Rebuild Tech Tip # 2,124

ONE more thing to remember to do when rebuilding your motor..... ALWAYS count the number of wrist pin clips before assembling the pistons and cylinders.......because SOMETIMES the factory guy thinks its funny to put in 9 of them instead of 8.......As an example you get the pistons and cylinder and the heads on and get the valves adjusted and the valve covers on and then you look down on the table and find ONE new wrist pin clip laying there by your ring compressor......after you throw an extreme "shit-fit" you pick ONE side to disassemble and you find them all there in the engine....so THEN you get REALLY pissed, and disassemble the OTHER side and guess what? THEY are all there too.....Dont even *&%$ ask me how I came up with this one.....

Sir Yancey, How did you really feel?   Good point. I always lay out the parts to see what I have or need. It is the OCD in me.

Also dont forget Engine rebuild tip # 4, If you are using a new crank from a new discount supplier and getting it for about half price of a rebuilt one, dont wait until its completely built and out of the engine stand and ready to set the endplay ,(on a friday afternoon)  and find out the flywheel bolt wont start threading in because the crankshaft dude in China forgot to put threads in the end of it.......

And that, my friend, is why I am glad I don't have to work on them everyday anymore.
Quality control? No character  in the Chinese vocabulary for that one.

Well, I am due to win the big lottery any day now, and when i do I'm only gonna work on cars 4 days a week instead of 6 and cut my hours down from 12 hours a day to 9......no use busting my ass if I'm rich, right?

So did you win the big one? I have the same intention but then forget to buy any tickets.

Re: Engine Rebuild Tech Tip # 2,124

Well the way I understand it is that your chances of winning go down a little if you dont buy tickets....BUT your chances of the lottery picking your favorite numbers go UP if you forget to play them....
