Topic: muffler studs

I'm replacing the muffler on my 1968 Ghia (1500 stock engine)... I took the old one off and found that the 4 studs going into the cylinder head are stripped (and looks like they have been for a number of years...

I can order some from Cip1.ca (or buy them locally in Toronto, Ontario).... buuuut

I don't know what they are... does anybody know what size it is or length?

Thanks!!!   (the mechanic is making his way down the list of things I don't have time to do... such as repairing stripped and broken studs... soon he will get to them and might need some...

thanks in advance!!!

Re: muffler studs

m8 x 38. we have them in stock. we also have step studs if you need them, they're handy if you break one of the studs and have to drill it out. one end of the stud is m10.

Re: muffler studs

Awesome!  I might swing by and grab some next week  (I'll check with the mechanic first)

thanks for the tip on the step up ones... those might come in handy...

I would have used your services for my car (brakes and engine partial rebuild) but this mechanic is on the same street as my shop so I was able to roll the chassis down there without having to pay for a tow truck...

thanks again!

Re: muffler studs

Your lucky. I can't find any M8 x M9 studs for the type 4 bus engine. I bought Scott's last 2 and need 6 more.

The old ones are really hard to get out. I finally welded a M8 nut to the studs, which got them red hot, and they came right out with a snap.
