Topic: need to source VAG adapter for 99'MEX Btl
My 1999 Mexican Beetle has a 3 prong plugin to diagnose engine but I am told I can get an adapter for it to run VAG?

I still have some that I've made, or the parts & wiring to make your own are in the tech doc that is around on the Web. (Or email me through this site and I'll send it.) Mine converts the 3-pin on the Mexi to the standard 16-pin OBDII style connector. From that you need the normal diagnostics connector. The MexiBeetle is NOT OBDII compatible, so you need a VAG-specific system like VCDS (VAG-COM). My adapter is $50. I think Antonio Trejo (partsvw@hotmail.com) may sell one that is cheaper. He's a great parts source who FedExs from Mexico City.
Thanks Tom, I'll take urs for $50. Please send me ur paypal info and I will pay.

Hello Tom B
I just bought a 2001 Mexican Beetle. I got it cheap as it has Digifant 11 problems
Would not run after it warmed up. I changed the engine temp sensor and it runs now
but after it gets hot it stutters under load.
Anyway I have a vagcom set-up but was hoping to purchase a 3 pin adapter from you.
Do you still have any?

Hi Robin,
Gongrats on your purchase. I've helped a couple of others who got great deals for minor FI problems, and we got them all sorted out.
I'm on a vacation trip this week, but have parts to make a few more, and can do so in a week or so. I'll also send a copy of the tech write-up I've done for the Mexi. I don't have the pdf file with me.
Tom
