Topic: 1972 Beetle That Just Wont Turn Over

I Have a UK 1972 Beetle RHD, and after a day of running fine she now just wont turn over.

After doing a bit of running around in her, where she started perfectly, she now just wont turn over.

All fuses and electrics are fine, nothing burnt out that i can see but it happened after putting items n the back seat. The battery cover was off and i believe the springs from the back seat may have touched the battery.  the battery has been tested and is fine and all other electrics are working well.
When i last came to start her she gave the coughs of a dying battery before nothing else.

the only concern is that the ignition coil was very warm, could i have shorted out the ignition coil?

Any help/experience/advice would be greatfully recieved

hmmmm.....
have you had any luck with this
its possible you overloaded your solonoid and weakened it
could you possibly take a video of your bug trying to start as the sound is always helpful
plus anything odd will be visible to those trying to help

just a thought, mark
