Topic: Dream Cruise

Took the VW out on Woodward tonight for the Dream Cruise. It was nice being able to drive in the reserved "clasic cars" lanes. Was also nice driving on the freeway for a change to get there. Not too many air cooled cars there, but I did see a couple of dune buggies, and an orange VW Thing which was in excellent shape, but seemed to be having engine troubles in traffic

On the down side, police were shutting woodward in multiple sections, sometimes directing traffic to side streets which was pretty frustrating. I didn't get any pics either because it was twilight when we got there.

However, reactions to the car were great and caught me by surprise. Seemed like some had never seen one in person before.  People broke into cheers or applause four times. Got lots of callouts and thumbs up too, and one woman yelled "OMG!" when she saw it, lol. There were some people with numbered signs rating the cars as the drove by. They weren't 'official' as far as I know, but we got all 10's  smile

Re: Dream Cruise

To bad I was looking for some pics from someone who was there. No flash? lol

Why weren't they "official"? Their opinion is much more respected than the pros.

I had my camera, but there was no place to easily pull off. And, when we got to an area that was ok to take some driving photos, the road was closed! I was also kinda thrown off by all the attention which was a big change for me. I normally visit the cruise in a modified PT, which usually gets scorned at these types of events.

Here's some pics and video from a friend of mine who was there.

I really didn't care if the people with the cards were official or not, it actually carried more weight because I knew it was an honest opinion.

Yeah, the right two lanes are supposed to be for classics only, but there were a lot of people ignoring the rule this year. I spent a couple miles behind a Dodge Dakota.
