Topic: WTB - '68 Heaterbox Lever "fingers" - both sides

I need 2 of these (circled in red)...

Wolfsburg West has the entire kit, but that is overkill... I just need those 2 pieces in decent shape.

Anyone have a couple they'd be willing to send for postage and a few bucks? Send me a form e-mail if so...

What about this:

http://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp … %2D101%2DA

It's only $2.75 + shipping (of course the shipping charge will suck)!  Unfortunately they are out of stock...maybe you could inquire when they will have them again.

For $7.95 + shipping...you can get the whole enchilada:

Hope this helps,

The complete $7.95 kits from CIP1 ARE available NOW!!!  ; )

Even if someone on Volkswebbin has what you need...you will still have to WAIT for it...they will have to ship it or mail it just like CIP1.

The kits from CIP1 are a much better value...cause the other parts you get will definitely come in handy at some point...well worth the extra $5.00!

Geez... nobody has them...

I called one place and they had one... I didn't want to replace the one side and not the other.

I give up. LOL

These parts are really cheap...just get the whole package for $7.95/side...for a total of about $16.00 bucks + shipping.

If these parts were really expensive, I could see carefully shopping around & looking under every rock before buying.

My Bug needs a new convertible top + other convertible top parts...all of this is easily going to cost $750 or more (with me doing the installation)...much more $$$ if a professional installs it.

My Bug has needed this new top since I bought it about 4 years ago...and I still haven't pulled the trigger on buying what I need!  Partially because I'm not made of money, other projects, etc.

If I could spend $16.00 bucks to fix an problem...I would have spent it long ago!

p.s.  On the positive side...the weather is getting warmer, so this wouldn't seem to be a immediate priority.

Re: WTB - '68 Heaterbox Lever "fingers" - both sides

Eric: Once upon a time in a galaxy far far away.....ok ....anyway, I fabricated the very part you're after with some pipe strap available at any big box store (Home Depot, Lowes, even in some Wally Worlds) http://plumbing.hardwarestore.com/52-34 … 18080.aspx
and a pop rivet. If you have one old one (even one that's rusted and bent) you can use it for dimension purposes. That and a pair of vice grips and/or a bench vise and a pair of tin snips and a drill bit and drill, and you're all set. Do the drilling and cutting before the bending.....

Personally speaking, this is not a super critical part and well worth the 15 minutes it will take to make 2 of them (the first one is 12 minutes, the second one is 3 minutes).

Or you can continue with the quest. Have you tried a junk yard?
