Topic: Hi...

Hello all....
I thought I'd drop a quickie post to tell you all that I miss you and to let you know that everything is going ok.

I still see my little Sally sitting at the same car lot that traded me for the RAV4 - hope that guy isn't kicking himself.  But, every night they put her back inside in her safe little house and for that I am grateful to them.  I'm sure it doesn't hurt that the guy is a classic car lover.  smile  He has an old restored Mustang of his own, so he understands.

School is going good - I'm sitting here this morning after yesterday's class with holes and bruises in both antecubital areas from blood draws and a stitch bandage on my forearm from a bleeding time test, and 2 finger punctures.  Sigh....................  I guess I'm loving school...  It's really hard.  But, nothing that's worth doing is easy, right???  Right??????????

I check in on your posts every few days and see that everyone is doing ok - Burr is still talking about cookies but not handing out any information, so noone can bake him a batch of good old homemade chocolate chip cookies with pecans............  <wink>  I saw that our little road-tripper is safely at her destination.......   Georgia's got a REALLY colorful bus there and now expecting #2 so have to add more room.  That crazy zbhover in Illinois is still putting together that MAD truck/VW and I can't wait to see that all finished - what a trip!  All is well on Volkswebbin and that's a good thing.

So, Spring is coming....Only a few short months until you guys can fully break out your VWs and enjoy the warm weather.  Here in FL it's been unusually chilly for a long time (or so it seems) but it's finally starting to get nice again.  These next few month are absolutely wonderful down here.  Take care everyone, and I wish all of you the very best...

Your Friend,

Re: Hi...

Georgia try using balsa wood to sand with, it will conform to the curves and preserve your fingers. It's cheap and that's what I used on my bug.

Re: Hi...

That's after the fire. Except for I have new tires now. Those tire actually cracked before I could wear them out.

I'm using paint sticks, hard pads, soft pads and form boards. But on the runs I use a 2" piece of paint stick and that constant back and forth with a small piece is what did the trick. And I've got loads of runs. I was doing them with 1000 grit but I have changed over to 600 and 800.

Re: Hi...

That's a lot of sanding. I find it hard to get a polished surface after sanding with 600 or less. There usually isn't enough paint on the car to sand that much. Unlike sanding wood, you are trying to leave as much paint as possible.
