Topic: For those of you with SNOW!

This is from 1926. No narration, but the video speaks mightily about the mechanical ingenuity of some of our "ancestors".  Of course PETA will not like parts of this....sorry in advance if that part troubles you.....

Pretty cool machine...but the big question in my mind is...Why didn't this thing ever catch on?  I'm going to bet that there must have been some drawbacks or reliability issue's with the machine...or there simply wasn't a market for it.

And yeah...that horse wasn't having much fun in the deep snow!!

Re: For those of you with SNOW!

Hiya Clancy,

Very cool, especially considering this was eighty years ago.

This reminds me of a project vehicle developed by Chrysler and Alcoa during the late fifties.  It used the very same pontoon screw drive system.  It was designed to transport troops (looked a little like an open top APC) across harsh terrain like swamps.  That vehicle was geared and powered somewhat differently than the Snow Motor.  I remember seeing pictures of it zipping across swamps and open water and that thing must have been doing about 50 or 60 mph.
