If you front-ended yout Type 2, it looks like they'd have to just cut off the front of the bus and bury you mixed in with a lot of sheet metal.

These tests were of vehicles moving 30 MPH

Hi David. I am sure that the speed was much greater than 30MPH. I hit a k-rail at 65 mh and did not have nearly that damage.... A friend rear ended a trash truck in a Bus at 55 MPH and walked away from it. But I have seen VW'stotaled. It just depends on the crash.

Looks like a Vanagon variant. Interesting thing is that the NTSB safety data in the 80s showed the Vanagon had a very good safety record in actual service. Back then it was a high vehicle, and tended to ride up over other cars in collisions - unlike the high-flat wall it hit in this video.
Today with all the SUVs it probably wouldn't rate as high.
