Going 96mph in a Bug seems kinda like doing a 4 minute mile in flip-flops... cool if you can do it, but damn be careful. LOL

You know. I got a 74 standard in Los Angeles. that I drive at 90MPH all the time... It is almost stock with the exception of the exhaust system...
Wonder if there is a difference.... Maybe the gearing?

The limiting consideration isn't the top speed, it's your brakes. If you have the stock mini-brakes and narrow tires, there is NO WAY you can make an emergency stop from 90 MPH, or even 50 MPH. Some idiot pulling out in front of you can spoil your day real quick.

Come out here too So Cal . So many people runnin 80 too 90 MPH on the freeway that you gotta be doin at least 95 just too get a nodding glance from a CHP .
Hell I cant even figure out how one of these Copp's figure's out who or wich car too pull over ? On week end's Victorville too Vegas traffic doesnt even slow down , when there's a copp sittin on the side of the road !

Hey Sean... what is the gear ratio on your 4th gear? Are you running a standard R&P?
Just curious, because I've been thinking about trying to find a FF tranny somewhere, since so much of my driving is longer distance.
(Don't fret... I've been told about the "lugging the motor" thing and the "burning it up" thing, but that's not much of an issue with me, as I like to rev it up RPM-wise anyhow, so it shouldn't matter. Also... going 70-75 in a FF wouldn't be much slower RPM-wise than going 60-65 in a standard tranny, which doesn't burn up my engine right now... or am I WAYYYY off with my thoughts on this?)

My 69 is completetly stock Double Side plate 2.77 Ring and pinion , we runn Hell out of it . Been are Daily driver Goin on 6 year's or close too it .
Rann 75 and 80 MPH from So Cal too Texas, and back, last year Too my Mother In law's funeral .
Blew a Gen Bushing In Holbrook Took 2 day's too get a Generator thru Kragen !
Didnt help Much with the Bee Hive Hair Do's , when we rolled in with a Old Beater Bugg .
Unfortunately My Mother Inlaw passed away while we were Enroute ! But even if we hadnt Broke Down In Holbrook we wouldnt have Made it in Time !
But yeah we regularly drive Ole Blue Up and Down Cajon pass , Intoo L.A. and San Berdo .
We like too shop at Venice Beach for clothe's etc. Mostly now Car is Just abused ! Doesnt get Tune Up's regularly , Or Oil changed out as often as it should . Carb need's Re- Kitting And I just Rebuilt the Brakes on it for the third time .
Mostly we just drive it !
I built it completely stock on a Dual Releif case . Started too leak oil under the Old Style Cooler , wich I havent fixed as of Yett . But that's Due too the Adapter O- Ring's of runnin an Old Style Cooler on a Dog house case .
All I can say is there's a lott too be said about , Buildin um right and takin the Time too Get Cam Gear and Crank gear right Or / AKA Degreeing the Camm !
In my opinion this is what make's a great runner !
