Topic: Help for "Bug in my Nose" has been banned, seems a familier issue ?

Here's what Bug in my nose sent me via e-mail:

Can someone help Nick ?  Thanks, Darby

Darby and Nick (if Nick can read this post!): Evidently the spam software that Darren has implemented is for some as yet unknown reason picking on some of the longtime users. I noticed that "stereotype one" and several others are also being hit. I'm not sure if it has to do with the email address, the IP address or what. I've also notified Darren about this and I know that he is looking into it. Hopefully, something in the application will be tweaked and it will be a bit more stable.

Nick I went through that a few weeks ago remember.  Things are looking good on my bug.  got a feew issues like a short somewhere  in my lights, hesitation  on acceleration, and others.  Engine starts up first time everytime , no cranking at all.. No leaks sounds good.  Just little things that will be worked out.  Gip

Gipper,

If you didn't have at least one electrical problem with your Beetle (like the rest of us)...it just wouldn't be any fun!

I'm still laughing.  Made my day.  Yancey has been guiding me along as I work out these bugs (No pun intended)  lol

My main electrical problem is the dome/interior light in my convertible.  As you might imagine...this light as in hard tops...is not mounted in the ceiling of the interior...but on the top of the windshield frame on the inside.

Honestly...I haven't really tried real hard to fix it...it's not like I need the light that much!  Some day I'll fix it.

I got banned for a few days when I tried to include a link to a product at MidAmerica MW for an opinion... and I think there-in lies the problem.

Darren's software is looking for certain patterns (such as links) as triggers. (My other life as a software developer is coming out... sorry. LOL)

Now, what the software SHOULD do is be member driven... it would seem that if a member has been a member for more than a year and has never posted spam (or been accused of spam) that they probably wouldn't start at that point. (Who would hang around for over a year as a spammer before actually spamming.)

Wow... I just noticed my registration date. I'd better be careful................. (wink)

I just looked at my profile, and sure enough, my address was an old one that's no longer valid. I updated it and hopefully, problem solved. I still contend that the occasional ban is a far better thing to contend with than spam! :-) Cheers, David
