There getting hard to find, but two new cars.

the trunk lid on that one reminds me off the older camero rs's and IROCs
I like that bumper. But it could be better.
MAN those pics make me feel sick! Fact is I lived through those days and that was the kind of CRAP that drove me away from the VW scene in the 80s and into the 5.0 mustang world (before I came back in the 2000s.) dark days indeed.
I just read where those kind of after market products don't help the aerodynamics of the Beetle. I never liked aircooled during the time these pictures were taken. I always thought aircooled were high maintanance. Apparently German engineers working on the Beetle did their homework, nothing can be done to make it stable at anything faster than 75 miles an hour. But it is stable and I think the guy that did the study was accurate. You guys go ahead and tell me that it's being done but the Beetle will lift off like an airplane when it gets going fast enough. Not to mention cross winds. I llike my cars to be stock, although my 69 is semi-custom. Not my doing, previous owner repaired it with various years parts. Sorta like the Caddy Jonny Cash sang about...
Oh isn't that Steve in the first picture? Remember him from the ABC news release of the last Beetle coming off of the Mexico assembly line? Or maybe that just looks like his car...

not to bring up an old post.... but i came across this post from another forum... and got a good chuckle out of it. i just KNEW the pic of my 74 Super would make it in here without even scrolling down. I have the teal and white "Nasty Bug" up on the first page.
In my defense of it. that pic WAS taken in 1991/1992 when i was in 11/12th grade. so back then, it was the look - i know of 3 people that had the same kit - but they both had the "whale tail" and luckily i did not
I still have the car, and right now it is in the shop getting yet another makeover. this time, it is much more subdued - and for prob. 10 years now the front bumper/airdam has been removed and sitting in the garage.
you take away the front bumper/airdam/cowcatcher and the stupid sunvisor (that has left me 6 nice holes along the roof of the car - and it TOTALLY changes the look of the car. The was taken back in early spring of 06...

just thought i'd pass it on - and see what this site is about as well - always looking for info on VW's
