Topic: Some more of my crazy ideas

ok just saw on TV where they put a body kit(or somewhat of a body it) on a 68 I belive bug. That got me a thinkin' they said they put on Porsche front fenders(they called it a Porsche front end) I problaby already know the answer to this but I'll ask anywho, can you use Porsche fenders and stuff like that on VWs like ours??? They also put Ferrarri side vents on it wicth don't flip my trigger that much. The engine had dual carbs on, how much (if any) power gains do they add?? I just saw that and had some questions and something said to ask you guys(the experts)

Re: Some more of my crazy ideas

Well, as you saw, they did put a Porsche-like kit body on a VW chassis so the answer to your question is, yes it can be done.  There are scores of kit bodies of many different styles that have been made for the VW chassis over the years.  Some are still available.  Try your local Barnes & Nobel for a periodical magazine named "Kit Cars".  You should find what you're looking for.  Simply having dual carbs is not enough to tell what HP the engine might have.  It could be anything from 80 to 200 or more.

Re: Some more of my crazy ideas

Are you talking about the new Pimp My Ride 68 Beetle they just did? It's called the "Mulholland Look", one of those styles from the 80's like hot pink paint jobs. Anyways the parts are not actually from a Porsche, but merely made to mock one. Here's the website from which they probably got the parts : http://www.creativecarcraft.com/

For those out there that haven't seen this bug, you can find pics/vids here. *Warning some users may find them deeply disturbing*:

It's a pity that some people out there don't understand that just because something CAN be done doesn't mean that it SHOULD be done!  Yowch!

Haa!  There's a picture of that Thing on page 61 of the October Hot VWs.  It won "best paint" at the So. Cal. VW Classic

I hat to admit it among so much negativity, but I kind of always liked the Mullholland Beetles.  Not my thing now ,but I will admit that back in '85 when I was a lad of 15 years and yearning for my first Beetle, that is what I intended to make.  If you're a SuperBeetle person, it's really not that far off of the German look Beetles.

Better yet just get some copies of Hot VW's from the 80's. Anyways, I hate this look, but still seen alot of styles out there that are just as bad or worse.

Re: Some more of my crazy ideas

Wow, that red thing is "uber-ugly". It looks like someone bolted a big ole box on the front to the otherwise rounded countours of the car. Man, I'm glad the 80's are over.

edit: "Fugly!" .... thats the word I was looking for.
