Topic: question about starters

Re: question about starters

71: Rebuilt Bosch starters (rebuilt by a factory-authorized operation) are usually very reliable and they typically come with some warranty. You may have to give the place you buy it from your old starter as a core.  Having a local shop do the rebuild is great if they will stand behind their work and you can find out what they replace or merely machine.....some sort of warranty like maybe a year or so would be nice, too. New starters will probably be the most expensive, but you are getting all new parts. For a starter, you will probably get what you pay for. I've only had the "factory" rebuilt variety.

Re: question about starters

Hello Superman...I bought a rebuilt from Autozone back in May,and it's doing great! Great price too! Did have to take mine in exchange though.

Re: question about starters

On rebuilt starters it,s good Idea Too check the engagement gear . Reason being that a Good Percentage of Buggs suffer from a badd starter Bushing Or Fly Wheel,s Comming Loose . This tends too chew the engagement gears up a lil bit . Then its a judgement call at the rebuild factory as too re - use the gear . Basically Jose Looks Gear over then either tosses it intoo the good box or the badd box ? Any grindage once starter is installed should result in immediate removal and an other starter installed and or starter Bushing Replaced . A Starter relay insures good voltage too the Bendix This will insure Good Engagement of the gear and release, there 20 Buck,s fairly easy too install . Yeah On Subject of Starters How many are aware that Manual,s Reccomend Starters Be Silicone sealed intoo the Bell Houseing ??? LMAO Look it Up ? Sean

Re: question about starters

Consider a new starter.  The new starters (alternators and generators) from Bosch now come with a lifetime warranty.  Save your receipt.

Re: question about starters

Hey Superman...just read your reply. The starter cost me 39.99 plus tax and my old starter, and....it has lifetime guarentee! Not bad huh?
