Topic: Happy Birthday....

Just a little celebration...after a safe trip home through about 4 inches of snow last night, my '65 Bug turned 41 today (445,650 miles). According to the letter I got from Wolfsburg back in 1985 (for free!) my Bug was built on January 20, 1965, and was delivered to Bremen, Germany on January 21 to begin its voyage to the US. I think I'll treat it to new plugs, points, condensor, rotor and cap and a carb rebuild tomorrow.....Funny how I never gave a "name" to my Bug...other than Bug. Anyway, everyone have a great weekend and enjoy your VW!!

You know, I never thought about it 'til just now, but my '66 Type I will turn forty sometime in June or July (the original engine number is long gone - this estimate is based on other things like salient features). Right now it looks like that's about the time I'll have it finished. So, it's getting a pan-off reconditioning for its birthday!
