Re: Cramming a V8 into a beetle

Did you have to shorten or narrow the frame at all?  How does the wheel positioning look when the fender are on?

Looks like a great project!

Re: Cramming a V8 into a beetle

Just cut 2in off nose rewelded and fliped leaf springs around that's it !!I was gona tub it and run a narrowed 9 in but changed my mind Toyota drive trains are really tough !!! ? How many yota trucks have u ever seen with rear end problems . I've only seen motors give out . Now if u decide to use a narrow rearend I would get two frames cut them n half strip the nose on one and weld back together . It's works out fine cuz its already a full tubed frame !!!!!! I think the measurementwas 34in useing 15/15 weld Rims with a 7.5 center offset . And u can ajusting the ride height also just by turning a bolt !!!!

Re: Cramming a V8 into a beetle

Oh the tail of the frame !!!! Just have to cut 9inches off reuse the crossmember pre tubing reweld your done just have fab up brackets for body supports . And there are motor mounts to put a small block Ford or Chevy n those frames no cutting or fanning those . I will post more pics of my progress.hope u have fun building urs like I have.
