Re: Valve Lash & High Lift Rocker Arms

Have you ever talked to anyone at Berg about why they suggest .004" ex and .006" in?  No?  Well I have.  It's purely a performance setting.  More lash on the intakes changes valve timing ever so slightly and will boost the vacuum signal a tad.  Perfectly sound theory, and just barely noticable,,, barely.
Scott, do what you want but like I said, it's not the lash that's important.  It's making sure that there is lash for a long enough period to cool the valve.  So you may be seeing a 13% decrease in lash with a 1.25 arm, but if you map out the cam profile, you're splitting hairs on seat time.  Maybe 1% if you're lucky, but that's eaten up through the imperfect method of setting lash with feeler gauges.  A dial is really much more accurate, but a PIA for such a simple job.  --Ryan
