Topic: selecting tires...

Hello again everyone... Well my project '65 Herbie clone/custom is almost complete. Now I need some suggestions on tires. I installed a complete new adjustable front end and I really like the stance of the 2.5 inch drop. However, I need tires that will fit without rubbing the fenders and give good performance. I know my options are relatively limited because my front end has not been narowed. I'm running the stock 15 inch wheels all around. It looks like I can choose from 135's, 145's, or the 155's that Coker offers. I need the largest/best contact patch available that will fit. I've already checked many sources and these appear to be the only options. I put new 195/65's on the rear which should be adequate for my 2+ liter mill. I'm very concerned about finding the best tires for the front though, so I'd really appreciate any and all opinions. Thanks,
Vince

Re: selecting tires...

To see if the 155 will work try drumming up an old 5.60x15 spare tire they are about exactly the same size.
I have an original Disney Herbie that has stock but widened to 15x6" wheels and I run a 195/60/15 front tire w/o any problems and it sits pretty low in the front.

Re: selecting tires...

Thanks for your help. Well, I decided to try out the 145's. I had a set of Nankang 145/15's fitted last week. The top of the tire is about a 1/4 inch from the edge of the fender with the front end dropped 2.5 inches. I haven't driven the car yet(engine install in progress) but they appear to fit well. The only thing that sucks is that they'll most likely hit the fenders if I corner tightly(under load) or hit bumps in the road... but I guess thats expected with my particular setup. At any rate, thanks for your reply!
