Topic: Certificate of original Color

Hi, Has anyone ever wrote to the Stitung Volkswagen Museum in Germany for a certificate of production showing original colr and equipment. If so did they take US currency or did you have to send Euro Dollars? I had found on a Ghia site that this could be done so I was curious if anyone else had done it.

Re: Certificate of original Color

Hiya Neabet,

Surprisingly, I got my information for free.  But that was about five years ago and I had to wait for about five months.  Seems that the requests for vehicle information were just getting to be too much for the museum staff.  So they came up with the grand idea of charging for their time.  At first there was some confusion concerning all this, but the information that has filtered out boils down to this..........

Basic production information (Chassis No., Model, Engine, Color, Production Date, Delivery Date, and Destination) are still available in most cases.

Be sure to explain clearly that you want production information concerning your vehicle.  And don't forget to include the VIN!  Also be sure to include 15 Euros.

So, will they take anything else besides Euros?  That's what they prefer but I've been told that sending $20US has the same effect.  One fellow told me he sent over his credit card number - it worked!  By the way, I've been told that the Euros are available in the form of a money order or (possibly, I think) traveler's check.  Most of the larger banks (or AAA) can help you in this department.

By the way, the Automuseum can be reached via e-mail at.....

or on the phone at.........

Let us know how you do.
