74 vacuum lines

I just bought a 74 Beetle w/ auto stick. It won't idle properly and the no-help mechanic told me that vacuum lines were cracked and/or missing. evreything I have read so far suggest vacuum line problems, so I'm starting there. None of the books(Haynes manual) I've read show a clear(at least to me) routing of vacuum lines. Can anyone shed a little light?
