Topic: fill-er-up

First, let me say thanks for the help with my other questions....!

As I was going around a left turn in my '74 Standard, the gas gauge needle "fell" to the empty side and has remained there. I only see one wire connecting the gauge with the sender. I sorta-kinda scraped the connections & no luck. I've heard the sender grounds out through the six screws of the sender. Should I back these out & retighten? With the price of petrol skyrocketing these days, I actually miss the information the gauge provided. Please guide me in the right direction.

Re: fill-er-up

Yeah here,s what ya do mark 1 screw and gauge cover or where that screw went and then mark it too location on the gas tank itself so as ya can put every thing back in it,s original posistion ? Pull the gauge up care fully and see if the floater is stuck but keep in mind that the rubber under the cover needs too go back in it,s original posistion or it will give ya trouble ? As in theres no real way too mark the rubber gasket ? Then tighten back down in a even sequence too prevent rubber gasket from bunchin up between screw holes after that if doesnt work post again but probably the problem gauge floater just stuck too one side when ya cornerd real hard , All the gas went too one side and floater just stuck on empty down posistion . Re: fill-er-up

Thanks for the help, SEAN...I will try that. Hope it is just stuck. I will try & curb by bad driving habbits. It's just so darn peppy & nimble. Unfortunately, the car is now a 5 & 1/2 hour drive away. I will be reunited with it weekend after next. I will post a response after that.
