Topic: front beam

Did I read somewhere that a Ghia front beam can be put on a bug? I understand Ghias came with disc brakes.

Re: front beam

The ball joint beam is the same the only difference is the knuckles
( spindles )  and the brakes themselves

Re: front beam

I think it depends on what year Ghia front end you are trying to get,
1967 was the first year with Disc brakes.
I don't think the ball joint Ghia disc brake front end will fit under a bug older than '66 with out some welding.
But if you are going to install the disc front under a standard beetle newer than '66  it should fit

good times ahead
hank

'57 bug "BlackBerry"
'58 type261 single cab "Ruf"
'86 vanagon syncro "Syncro da Dr.Mayo"
and way too many project waiting

Re: front beam

The Beetle(not super Beetle) and the ghia are both "type I" 1953 - 1968 parts rteadily interchange on same year models. some parts will interchange on different year (type I)'s even. reference the manual for individual year models to be certain they will swap. Browse through a Hot VW's magazine archive for articles on lowering front beams or converting to disc brakes. The conversion kits, to disc, for your year model are probably a better and cheaper alternative. safer also.
