Topic: Trouble with my carb!

I have a 92 VW beetle, it has a solex carb and it's a 1600, when I accelerate slowly , it starts choking at the begining, then it works properly going faster, also when the car is not accelerated, it turns off due to the same problem. I checked if the carb was clean and I even sprayed it with a compressor and with a carb cleaning fluid but it keeps on doing it. I also checked the distributor but it's ok. can somebody in this forum help me with a hint of how to fix the problem? THANKS!

Do you have the original vacuum advance distributor ? You need it on this engine. Either you have a clogged accelerator pump circuit, you are running too lean, your timing is retarded or the vacuum advance isn't working properly on your stock distributor. Not to mention a host of other may be's

Reuben: In addition to what Darby offered, one other " maybe": does your carb have the idle cutoff solenoid? If so, I've seen these act up (internally broken wire to the solenoid making an intermittent problem). Also, if it has a solenoid make sure that it has not come loose from the side of the carb. Good luck. Clancy
