Topic: Image Posting Howto

Hi all,

I see some of you asking how to post images.  Here's the trick.

First off, the image must be hosted on the internet somewhere.  The Volkswebbin forum does not allow you to upload images.

This howto assumes you're using Internet Explorer on a PC, but anyone can post images.  Just adjust the instructions for your environment.

Lets say you wanted to post the picture of the beetle in this CNN article  http://money.cnn.com/2003/07/10/pf/auto … en.beetle/ on the Volkswebbin site.

In order to post the image, you need to find the location of the image first.  To do this, right click on the image and choose "Properties" from the pop-up menu.

On the Properties window, there will be information next to a label titled  "Address(URL)".  Select all of the text, and hit ctrl-C to copy.

To test that the image worked, try pasting (Ctrl-V) the address of the image into the Address bar in Internet Explorer and hitting enter to view the image.  In the case of this example, you should be looking at this image: http://money.cnn.com/2003/07/10/pf/auto … beetle.jpg

Now that you have the address of the picture, you can post it on the Volkswebbin site.

To do so, create a new message and then paste the address of the image into your message.  If you submit the message as is, the image will not show up in the forum, just the link will.

In order to turn the link into an inline image, you will need to use the

tags.

The first tag goes at the beginning of your link, and the last tag goes at the end.  if you've done it properly, it should look like this:

Here's how it will look inline:

Have fun!

Darren.

Sadly, currently air-cooled free.

Re: Image Posting Howto

Oh Lord, won't you buy me an Ultima Edicion like in Darren's image?

It may be pretty old news to other Volkswebbers but take a look at the site that this came from: http://money.cnn.com/2003/07/10/pf/auto … en.beetle. That's one nice end to the factory Beetle story.

Re: Image Posting Howto

Wish I had $US10,000 for what's obviously a great car, but it doesn't look likely... can you maybe stop teasing me and keep this in the classifieds forum? wink

Re: Image Posting Howto

My contribution to easy:  I have created a website http://www.vdubcity.com It's a free, easy to use site you can upload your pictures to the internet.  Just go there and click the galleries link at the top of the page.

You do not need to register to post pictures in this gallery.  If you do register however there is a wealth of features you can use:  Multiple file uploads (more than one at a time) You can create your own personal gallery, You can send images as E-cards, rate and comment on pictures...etc..

To find the path to your uploaded pictures (for use here) is easy.  Enter the galleries, find your picture (as you find your picture there are 3 stages: thumbnail, intermediate, and full size. just keep ckicking the picture through the sizes.)  stop on whatever size you would like to use, right click the picture and hit "properties"  the path will be listed.

The site is not totally done, but the galleries and the about tab are up and running.  I hope to have the forum and links developed this weekend sometime.

I hope people here can find this site useful...If you do, or have any suggestions, let me know.  My e-mail stuff is on the site (admin@vdubcity.com).  I may be new to fixing VW's, but I'm pretty good at web development....

P.S.  due to storage space and bandwidth usage images are limited to 700kb max.  If this catches on I may buy more bandwidth and storage...
