Topic: Dual Kadrons by Empi

Is anyone running dual Kadrons on their Vw? If so how are they
working out for you. I am getting ready to order a set from So Cal
for a 1600 dp. It comes with a syncronizer tool but someone told
me they were junk. Is this true? also he said you need a can with
both sides cut out to place over the carbs with the air cleaners
off.

Yes, to synch Kadrons you need a can of some sort with the bottom cut
out. The aircleaner stud gets in the way if you don't have some sort
of extension (the can). And yes again, the $5 carb synch tools are
garbage. Spend the extra $$ for the good one called a synchrometer,
it's the best $50 you'll spend on carbs. Good Luck,

I'm running a pair of Kadrons I got from AJ Sims at Lowbugget.com.
They cost more, but they came setup and basically "tuned". AJ
claims to be an expert on kadrons and swears they work better
unsynchronized (or that the shared plenum design makes
synchronization a wasted effort) Anyway, for what it's worth, I love
the carbs. They are simple, easy to tune/rejet, and give great
throttle response. I'm running them on a 1776 with larger than
stock venturies. You should check out lowbugget.com for parts if
nothing else.
