Topic: Rear Brake Drum Question

I just received 2 new rear brake drums (German) for my 61 Bug, and
they do not have the hole at the bottom for the rear axle seal oil
slinger (the round part with a tube that drains through a hole at
the bottom of my old drum). It appears that other companies also do
not have this hole in their drums. Is it OK to install without the
slinger, or should I go and have a machine shop drill a drain hole
for the tube?
Thanks,
-David

@@ It is OK to install without it however when your axle seal leaks
it will get all over the shoes. They did away with the part all
together later in the 60's and all the swingaxle cars from then
until the end in Mexico never used it again.

Re: Rear Brake Drum Question

Many thanks! I kind of figured as such, but I know better than to
trust my own thinking.... :-)
