Topic: Windshield wipers two speed ?

Hi All
I've got an 82 mexi which supposedly has two speed windshield wipers,
I say 'supposedly' cause the difference in speed is hardly
noticeable, its a right pain when it rains really hard, can't see a
thing...any ideas, suggestions ? (hopefully without having to take
that damn things apart!)
regards
Brian

that happens is the wiper shafts begin to crud up & sieze. You
really do need to take it apart but you can try taking the wiper
arms off, remove any plastic covers over the wiper shaft and remove
the circlip that keeps the inner shaft from falling down into the
car. Push the shaft into the car a little and begin spraying in
there w/WD40 or better PB Blaster or Kroil. If you can't get the
shafts apart like this you should be able to take off the circlip on
the wiper linkage and remove the inner shaft all together from
inside the trunk. Lightly wire wheel it and pack it w/grease of anto
sieze compound and reinstall. This should do the trick. If not
you'll need to take the wiper motor out and replae it or if you are
feeling handy take it apart and cleam the brushes and commutator
w/some emery cloth.
