Topic: Sand Seal Machining

Hey ya'll, long time no talk! Going great on my end hope the same
for everyone. Question on machining for a sand seal. How far down
do you have to take the engine to machine? Do I have to split the
case and pull the crank. The guy who does my machining (Bugpatch in
Santee, CA.) has one of those tools that screws into the end of the
crank and trims but I need about .150 per side removed. Thanks for
any help and take care. The dubber

Re: Sand Seal Machining

65dubber: Yes the motor must be apart to clean all the chips out. Why
not use the later type slip in seal and holder as they work just as
good. See ->
http://1800vw.bizhosting.com/sand_seal_ … _7_95.html and
they are available from many soruces. Vic.
