Topic: Dupont/vw paint

Hey guys my bug is going in next week to be painted back to it's
original Viper Metallic Green but in using the Dupont VW paint book
it just shows a Cyber Green. Can I use the old paint code and
inform the painter of what the mixing formula is he uses Dupont
paint. The code was LKL 98B Would this be all he needs? I have
tried to go to the Dupont sites and what a hassle. any suggestions.
I don't think I will have this thing ready by the time the Real
Source has their show in Illinois in June. dennis

Re: Dupont/vw paint

Dennis: Most paint shops can cross refence to the original VW code
that you provide. I know that PPG has the code for my 65 in their
system and I would hope that DuPont would too. For yor reference,
the LKL indicates an "air drying enamel". This was probably an
original material. Are you going to go with a more modern
basecoat/clear coat system? Note that the Wolfsburg West color
charts show this color as "98B" (Viper Green Metallic) and the PPG
code shows this as L98B with a sub code of 9149M-5029M. On the
ColorLibrary.com site
http://www.autocolorlibrary.com/cgi-bin … /search.pl the color
is also refered to as "Lime Green". I hope that I haven't added to
the confusion, but your paint shop should be able to find this paint
with the information you provide. Good luck. Clancy

able to get a current match. Cyber Green is the new beetle metallic
green and I have never seen them side by side but I think Viper
Green is slightly darker. I hope you get to the Real Source's show,
I've never been and am going this year too.

Re: Dupont/vw paint

Thanks ClanceandDarb. I have been to that website and do have the
numbers. I have the paint chip for Cyber and you are right Viper is
just a tad darker. If I can't get the car over to the Real Source
at least I may still come. I am only 31/2 hours away. Maybe some
of us who have been communicating here can get together. I know on
that Monday I am leaving for Florida, taking the family to Disney
then over to the beach for a week. dennis
