Engine Compartment Insulation

I have a '54 Bug that I need to replace the tarboard engince
compartment insulation on. the majority of the aftermarket stuff
i've seen looks lie garbage. does anybody have any experience in
fabricating this, and if so, from what ? or does anybody know of a
high (german) quality replacement kit for a '54. Thanks in
advance!
