Topic: Don't worry, I'll always be a Bug lover

At the risk of being called a "sell-out" I reluctantly announce
that I have made the foray into the VW watercooled scene. About 2
years ago, I aquired an '84 Rabbit Convertible. It needs a MC, a
windshield and some exhaust work but other than that the body is
straight (no dents or rust)one color, and it only has 134,000 miles
with an almost new top. (used for a 100 mile daily commute into
Northern Virginia for about 4 years so most of the miles are
highway) All intentions were to do the few repairs and sell it to
get my money back as my heart is with aircooled VWs. Well needless
to say, as time went on I became a little fonder and fonder of the
ole bunny and became less and less inclined to sell it. I moved
last winter and tagged it so i could move it around and that's when
it bit me. The next thing I knew I was driving it almost everyday,
dead inspection and all (it wouldn't pass cause the windsheild is
still cracked). I have to say that it's just a fun car. Now I have
driven a lot of new and new(er) watercooled and they are nice cars,
but none were as fun as this thing. It reminds me of when I fell in
love with the Bug. I mean, it really does have personallity like the
Beetles I have owned. I will be a Bug lover for life but I hope you
all find it in your hearts to excuse me while I give this little car
some TLC. That brings me to my question. Does anybody know of any
websites with forums as friendly and helpful as this one where I can
get info and help from time to time with this car. I have been
searching the net and it seems like all I find are vendor sponsored
websites that are only concerned with making the car go fast and
look cool. That's OK but we all know that VWs have quirks that are
only familiar to other VW owners and I'd just like to tap into a
vein of these owners a lot like what we have right here. Any help
would be much appreciated.
