Topic: gas in the oil?

Can anyone tell me what would cause gas in the oil pan? I purchased a
75 super beetle for my wife and the person i bought it from said his
retarted mechanic or his ex- mechanic had installed a carb but it
was the wrong one and thus it barely runs. Is this possible? the
engine # is AE 158343 and the carb is a Solex VW325-1. Do they
coicide with one another? I believe the engine was origionally a
fuel injected system but has been retro-fitted with the carb. It
does start but runs barely, and I want to get it running asap.
however I won't due to the fact it will cause more damage. I will
change the oil as soon as I find out what to do with the carb or
whatever. This problem happened just over a week ago and was not
driven very far from the mechanics shop and was parked. I purchased
it and had it flatt bedded to my driveway where it now sits pending
more info.
Thanks,
Gary in Canada.

Re: gas in the oil?

First thing is to make sure the original fuel pump is not still
installed. It would have WAY too much fuel pressure for the carb to
handle. I have never heard of the carb you described, maybe someone
else can help regarding the carb. Find out what kind of pump you
have and get back with us.
