Topic: Swamp Coolers

Has anyone here had any experiance with "swamp cooler" interior
coolers? I would like to try one but at $550. I might just leave
the windows down. I'm interested in the ones with the fan so that I
get a little cooling air when stopped. Thanks. Scott.

Re: Swamp Coolers

Scott: It depends upon where this car would be driven....their
efficiency is directly related to the ambient temperature and
relative humidity (RH). They are evaporative coolers and if you live
in Houston or Atlanta or Washington D.C., I'd say forget it. Now if
you live someplace where the summertime RH is less than 30 to 40%
you may see a nice cooling effect. I have an old cooler that works
well in Colorado, but the RH is often only 12-15% in the summer, and
temps rarely exceed 90 degs. What kind of car do you drive? You
might want to look at http://www.iceac.com/ for a nice upgrade. Good
luck. Clancy
