@@ Just like any car you have to start somewhere. Spark plugs, car /
rotor, wires, air & fuel filter...you know the drill ...a good tune
up.
Then you should check the camshaft belt and camshaft belt timing to
make sure it is 100%, then check the ignition timing and co%.
The 89-92's were very prone to X-S carbon build up on the intake
valves which sponges the fuel as it enters the cylinder. So I'd also
suggest two bottles of Exxon Techtron add one to a full tank run it
almost empty, then add another and run it about empty then change
the oil. This will help clean up the carbon and also help to clean
fuel system deposits.
Further I'd suggest that you look closely at the intake manifold. At
each end there should be ground wires attached to a small bolt. In
most cases these wires were a little too short and would break off
in time.
Remove the bolts at any case and at least clean up the grounds,
repair broken wires & add about 3" to the end to prevent it
happening again.
