Topic: Hood stuck on 71 s. bug

The front hood will not open on my 71 bug. The latch at the outside
handle works, but I think the latch in the glove box is not
releasing.
It use to take two people to open, one two hold down the lever in the
glove box and the other to open the latch on the handle.

What do I need to do to release the hood?

Heh, I'd like to see the answer to this one, too. I'm in the same
boat, and right now it takes 2 people, about 7 minutes, and a lot of
jumping/pushing/pulling by both people to open my boot LOL

Had this happen awhile ago. You have to get to the cable and be able
to pull it. Someone to lift or push the button on the handle. Once
you get it open then replace the catch and the cable, make sure
everything is lubed. You may have to destroy the glovebox, but they
are cheap to replace. The NOS ones are plastic from Mexico.

I tryed this and the hood still would not open.
Any other way?
Is their a way to get in from underneath?

I have the same problem on my 71. I have played with the cable, the
latch up front and it still does the same thing. Have you received
a response from anyone or figured out a cure yet? Let me know if
