1966 VW Type I

I am wanting to buy a good restorable VW Beetle and have found a 1996
model which is very sound mechanically and a considerable amount of
restoration has been performed by the present owner. My question
is, "how do I know what a good price is?" The asking price is
$2,150. Any assistance would be appreciated.
