Topic: chemical stripping

I'm in the Philly/S. Jersey area and looking for a place that can
chemically strip my '64 Vert. I've heard rumors of such a place
existing in Reading, PA but information couldn't find one in the
phone listings. Any one know of a place?

Do you need to strip your car due to rust or just to get the old crud
off? Chemically striping a car can have it's down sides, mainly
having the ability to re-prime thase hiden areas that get striped
like the inside of door posts and heater channels. Media blasting or
baking soda blasting is usually a better way to go unless you have a
body that is covered in rust. Good luck with your search!

The way I understood it, the vehicle sat in the vat to strip it, then
it was switched to a primer/sealer vat and soaked. The reason I'm
looking for this method is not so much for the outside, but for the
inner areas (heater channels, the "black holes" below the windshield
corners down to the heater channels, and the other inaccessible
areas). If I turn something up, I'll keep you posted.
