Topic: mex beetle support

Tomb and Darby,
thank you for all the info, I will put in synthetic oil in my mex
beetle when it arives in houston, I am excited. what weight is
best? As you too Tomb live in Texas.
Thank you both for the info, and when a manual is available I would
love to purchase one,
I think it would be interestingb if someone could bring the kombi
from brazil and do what Miguel has done, it is prabably a pricier
vehicle I am sure, the brazilian web site shows a few versions of
the kombi, the bus type vehicle.
quick question what oil filter you you use and what air filter?
thank you again
take care, many non gurus and mechanically challanged really
appreciate both of your great knowledge,
thank you both

Re: mex beetle support

I use Amsoil 0w30 synthetic most of the year, and their 20w50 in the
hottest summer months; but a 0w40 or 5w40 should be good year
around. I have added an oil pressure gauge so I'm sure these weights
work for my car and climate.

For oil filters I use German Mann or Mahle (same as used on the 86-91
2.1L Vanagon), from busdepot.com. Their price in lots of 4+ is very
good.

Btlmex sells a "maintenance kit" for the injected engine:
http://www.btlmex.com/index.asp?PageAct … ProdID=207
that includes an air filter, fuel filter, and spark plugs - all
factory. I get such things from btlmex as I want to help them stay
in business, as there is no other good source for many parts.
