Topic: Type1 BOSCH part No.s

Hi, Does anyone have the BOSCH part numbers for the following items:

009 Distributor chrome, Bosch blue coil, starter motor, alternator
(50A)
voltage regulator for 50A alternator. The engine is a 1200cc
1973/1974.

Note: the Bosch number is different to the VW part number.
Any help would be appreciated.

thanks,
Scatman

Re: Type1 BOSCH part No.s

Scatman: In the US, the 1200 engine was not standard equipment for 73
and 74, so the followng may be way off base. And I'm assuming that
you're operating on 12 volts.... That said, I was able to find a few
numbers for you but you may want to get independent confirmation of
these before ordering. Where found, I've given both short number
versions and long number versions (i.e. 5 digits vs. 10 digits):
009 Chrome Dizzy: 9 230 081 094
Blue Coil (12 volt): 00 012 or 0 221 119 027
Alternator: 12 volt variously reported as 51 amp or 55 amp: AL 82N
(new) or AL 82X (remanufactured). These are shown as including an
internal voltage regulator, at least for the US market (SEE NOTE
BELOW). There are some additional numbers, but most suppliers use
these numbers.
Starter: (12 volt Manual Trans): SR 15N
Regulator: 9 190 087 003 NOTE: Shown as needed for the "Brazilian"
vesion of the AL 82X.

I will try to confirm some of these from an alternate source this
evening. Again, please don't spend any money until you get further
confirmation .....I hope that I haven't transposed a number or two!!
Hope this helps a bit. Clancy

Re: Type1 BOSCH part No.s

Take a look at this site...http://www.boschusa.com/home.asp It
appears that both Bosch and Motorola make the AL 82 alternators
(Bosch quoted at 50 amps and Motorola at 51 amps....go figure!)

Re: Type1 BOSCH part No.s

Clancy,
I am running on 12volts. All UK bugs were 12volt after 1968.
Thanks for the info, VERY useful. I have (I hope) sussed out the
required part numbers - some from you & the Bosch web site. The
bosch site in the UK was a waste of time. It is a 50A unit that I
need.

check out my site:- http://my-custombug.com/
