Backrests

Hi you guys. Glad to see Volkswebbin still thriving. I visit now only
occasionally and am grateful for the forum. Anyways, I posted a few
weeks back about replacing the foam backrests in my '66 sunrf bug
and wanted to give a little update on what happened. I have been
trying to restore my car piecemeal so that with my extreme
mechanical dis-ability I don't end up with a basket case. So I
ordered some horse hair back rests from Wolfsburg West and a
interior restoration video from California J-Bugs. Previously I had
spoken with a local auto interior shop that wanted to charge $100
per backrest labor. They assured me that they would be able to
replace backrest padding without harming the original vinyl seat
covers. So I watched the video and saw that they just tore off the
old seat covers. hhmmmm. Well I tried anyway and relized soon that
the 38 year old seat covers would not come off without tearing. Oh
well. I am paying my dues. Bye
