If it is any help, years ago before started welding I talked to a
local body shop who agreed to have his apprentice do the cut &
welding at a reduced rate on my '68 Westy and leave it in primer. It
worked out great and I was able to tell them exactly how I wanted it
done. Wound up that after the work was done, one of his painters
offered to paint it too and it came out very nice. Most of my bus
was still pretty nice so they color matched and blended the repairs
without me having to have the whole bus painted.
