Topic: 1991 Jetta Cooling Problem

I have a '91 Jetta GL. The other night, I noticed that the cooling
level was a bit low. I just bought it a week ago, so I figured I
would top off the fluid. I opened the expansion tank cap while it
was still apparently too hot and fluid rushed out the side of the
tank. Ever since, I have no heat and not sure how to fix the probem.
I believe there may be air in the system now, but how do i get it
out? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 1991 Jetta Cooling Problem

Dan,
Don't know if this will help any, but... I checked ny coolant level
when it was too hot and the system still had pressure. The liquid
that rushed out aruound the cap displaced the O-ring seal, over the
next few days I lost much of the coolant in the system. Popping the
O-ring back into its groove solved the problem. Might be worth
checking.
