I've had a pair of these on my BMW for many years. They wear well,
but I suspect don't give the best grip. Made in China I think. I
don't think I would buy them again. They were not much cheaper than
other brands. Maybe OK if you buy a whole set so they are balanced
front and rear for grip. Brian

Re: Wanli Tires

I am wondering the same thing.
I just bid on a wheel/tire package on eBay.
The tires are you guessed it...Wanli's.
I did track down that they are made in Lebannon.
Their web page states a goal of providing low cost goods
in the tire market. Not much impressed by that statement...
After seeing that I wasn't too happy about my bid.
Don't really care to buy anything from that part of the world
anyway.
Buying their oil is bad enough...

would definatly buy these tires again.

I have some on a 300ZX I have no problem with them they look great
and ride just as good. They are less expensive and have the same
quility. the tread wear is even when you keep them properly
inflated. I check the pressure every month and its always the same
and in the winter it only dropped 1 psi. I have had them for 2 years
and I will by more.

Re: Wanli Tires

I found this post on google and just decided to answere your
question:
I use 215/47/17 on my eclipse (Z Rated version) on Wanli and I love
them. I live on a dirt road and still haven't had a problem with
them, and I had problems with the stock 65 series tires.

Hi

I found this thread when searching for some information on some Wanli
tires that are part of a wheel/tire package I'm buying. They Wanlis
do have a tread pattern that's nearly identical to the Yokohama AVS
Sport. The Wanlis are also about half the price of the Yokos.
However, I think they may just be a ripoff, rather than owned or
manufactured by Yokohama. According to the November 25, 2002 issue
of "Tire Business" (yes, there is such a newsletter), the Wanlis are
manufactured in China's Guangzhou Province.

Also, from the same article, it looks like the Wanli 1099 Z-rated
high performance tires (the ones that are Yoko AVS knockoffs) are
imported and distributed by a company called Zisser Tire Wholesale.
Another company, Houston-based American Omni Trading Co., imports
and distributes regular Wanli passenger, light truck and truck
tires.

It's possible that rather than being a knockoff, Wanli licensed the
design from Yokohama, or that Wanli is in some way a subsidiary of
Yokohama, but I haven't been able to find any information that would
confirm that.

So anyway, the Wanlis at least appear to have a darn good tread
pattern, but I don't know if they are actually half price Yokohamas
(If they were, that would be sweet). If I end up buying them I'll
post some information about their quality. Also, if I find out
anything else about the Wanli/Yokohama relationship, I'll post that,
too.

> Ya, I just found this thread during a search for info on these
tires. I just bought a set of 17" rims w/ these tires on them and
just want to get a general feel to what they are like. Appears
theres more goods to them then bad from what i've read. So far I've
only been able to find stores selling them but no actual reviews on
them. So far they putting up alright but I just got them so I'll
have to drive some more to find out more details. I really like the
tread pattern tho, looks really sick.
